Surf for Research!

Tabata Materials Testing Series

Ryan's current project, sponsored by the Marine Option Program, University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Three 5'8 x 20 1/4 x 2 1/4, fusion thrusters

Materials Testing: Each board is glassed using different materials for the purpose of testing strength and durability in relation to performance. The control: one board is glassed with traditional material. The riders that choose to participate in the project testing (ie the surfers) will not know the identity of the materials on each board until they have ridden all three boards and have expressed their opinions about each board. Each rider (surfer) who participates in the project testing will be included by name (first or last OR first and last) in the final research paper to be presented in front of an audience at the University of Hawaii at Manoa at the end of the Spring 2012 semester. Those who participate also have the option to remain anonymous.
