Sun Halo

Did you look up at the sun today?  There was a halo around it!  I've noticed this phenomenon before, but not in a while. I looked it up, it's caused by ice crystals within the cirrus clouds, and could mean precipitation or rain is in the forecasted within the next 24 hours.  Cool!

Kona Winds

weren't in Waikiki this morning, because it was windy and the water was freezing cold!  Snorkeling was fun though!  Look what I found in the channel!  Two endemic species!  Finger coral (Porites compressa) and a male Hawaiian Razor or Knifefish (Cymolutes lecluse).
